The Law School has long been a national and international leader in legal education and scholarship. Until relatively recently our success was built on a strong foundation of generous investment from the State of Minnesota and the private philanthropy of alumni and friends.
In recent years state funding for the Law School has dwindled to less than 10% of our operating budget. While philanthropic support has always been important to the Law School’s excellence, our future strength depends on increased private investment.
The Law School proudly serves and strengthens our community and our state, and our scholars, students, and alumni play a vital role in protecting and promoting civil society and the Rule of Law at home and abroad.

Students
Scholarship funding attracts top students, makes the Law School financially accessible to talented students from diverse backgrounds, and enables students to choose careers based on their unique interests rather than their debt burden.
Teaching and Research
Faculty support funds attract and retain the world-class faculty, allowing us to best prepare our students while addressing wide-ranging legal issues and the evolving needs of the legal profession.
Clinical Education
Our clinics dynamically combine theory and practical training to prepare students for the demands of practice and for the service obligations of our profession, while meeting the legal needs of indigent clients.
Law Library
Your gifts maintain the eminence of this invaluable community resource, which perennially ranks among the Top 10 legal libraries in the nation.
