LL.M. Legal Research and Writing Seminar – 6021

Fall 2012

The fall semester course introduces LL.M.students to legal writing in the United States system and focuses on thefundamental components of legal analysis in the US system. By acting asattorneys in a fictitious law firm representing a client, students will learnhow to draft and edit professional letters and office memoranda. Students willalso engage in simulated oral exercises such as mock client meetings andprofessional presentations that will help them practice and improve theirspoken English skills. The focus of the fall semester is predictive legalwriting such as client advice letters. We will also spend some time discussinghow to prepare for and take law school exams.
