Students seeking support are encouraged to attend available AA (Alcoholics Anonymous) and Twelve Step meetings for law students. Contact Lawyers Concerned for Lawyers for information about available meetings, schedules, directions, or any other information, at 651-646-5590 or www.mnlcl.org/. Students may also join a peer recovery listserv developed by the ABA Commission on Lawyer Assistance Programs (CoLAP). The listserv offers a confidential vehicle for law students who want peer support to get or stay sober while in law school. To be added, e-mail CoLAP’s Director, Matthew Reel directly at: matthew@arjlap.org.
The Law School also accommodates on-site AA/Twelve-Step meetings on the request of any student, faculty, or staff member. Contact lawdos@umn.edu or umnlawaa@gmail.com for more information. Requests for assistance setting up an on-site meeting need not be made by those who are themselves in recovery.
