Policies and Procedures

Below is a list of all the topics on which you can find information on policies and procedures. The Policies and Procedures page is in the process of being updated. For questions about information not contained below, contact the Dean of Students Office at lawdos@umn.edu.

Building Access and Security

Law students and employees have 24/7/365 access to Mondale Hall with their activated UCard. (See UCard). With this generous access comes responsibility. When entering the building after hours, do not let others without a UCard follow you into the building. After hours only law students and law employees are allowed in the building. If you observe unusual or suspicious activity in the building after hours, report it to the security monitor on duty in the Dorsey Foyer or call the University Police (612-624-2677).

To help ensure maximum building safety and security please observe the following:

- When entering or leaving the building after closing hours, make certain the door shuts and locks behind you.

- Don’t allow others to use your UCard to gain entrance to the Law School or the Law Library.

- Don’t prop open exterior doors or card reader doors.

- Don’t allow others without a UCard to follow you in to the building.

A lost UCard poses a security risk for the entire Law School community. If you lose your UCard, report it immediately to the U Card Office, the Library Circulation desk, and to the Information Desk. You will need to go to the U Card office to get a replacement U Card and return to the Library Circulation Desk and the Information Desk to activate your new card. (See UCard).

After hours access is a privilege, not a right; a violation of the foregoing rules may result in immediate invalidation of your UCard. There is no requirement for a warning.

Report any safety or security concerns as soon as possible to: Police (624-2677), or Linda Lokensgard (625-2023) or 2nd Floor Information Desk, or Library Circulation Desk (625-1547).
