President Obama Taps Arne Sorenson (’83) as International Trade Advisor

Arne Sorenson (’83), President and CEO of Marriott International, was one of three business executives chosen in September to advise President Barack Obama on matters of international trade.

WHERE ARE THEY NOW? Suaad Allami (Humphrey Fellow 2009-10; LL.M. ’11)

Suaad Allami, originally from Iraq, completed the Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program in 2010 and her LL.M. degree in 2011, both at the Law School. Since then, she has returned to Iraq to continue her work in human and women's rights. Find out more about Allami.

WHERE ARE THEY NOW? HyongKun Kim (LL.M. ’12)

HyongKun Kim, originally from Korea, completed his LL.M. degree at the Law School in 2012. Since then, he has returned to his native country and now works for Jipyong Jisung, one of the prominent law firms in Korea. Find out more about Kim.

WHERE ARE THEY NOW? Laura Carlson (J.D. ’91)

Laura Carlson completed her J.D. degree at the Law School in 1991. Since then, she has received a juris kandidat (Master of Law) from Uppsala University School of Law and a juris doktor (Doctor of Law) from Stockholm University School of Law (Juridicum). Find out where she is now.

Class Notes

Philip A. Aguinaldo (Humphrey Fellow, 2012-13) was invited by the Philippine Judicial Academy to give a lecture on Anti-Human Trafficking Advocacy in July 2013, in Manila.

Arlene "Kaka" Bag-ao (Humphrey Fellow, 2006-07) received a 2013 Distinguished Leadership Award for Internationals from the Global Programs and Strategy Alliance at the University of Minnesota.

Haykuhi Harutyunyan (Humphrey Fellow, 2011-12) has been named president of the Protection of Rights Without Borders, a non-governmental human rights organization in Armenia.

Rudy Hutagalung (LL.M. ’98) joined PT Bank CIMB Niaga, Indonesia's fifth largest bank, as head of legal and corporate affairs.

Denny Indrayana (LL.M. ’97) has been appointed as an Indonesian Deputy Minister of Justice.

Edmon Marukyan (LL.M. ’10; Humphrey Fellow, 2009-10) participated in the 2013 Social Good Summit in Yerevan.
