Timothy R. Baer (’85), Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary for Target Corp., and University of Minnesota Law School Board of Advisors member D. Cameron Findlay, who serves as Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary for Medtronic, Inc., are both recipients of 2013 Burton Awards for Legal Achievement.

Justin Cummins (’97) received the 2013 Karla R. Wahl Dedicated Advocacy Award from the Executive Committee of the Minnesota Chapter of the National Employment Lawyer Association (NELA) at a banquet held May 20 in St. Paul. The award recognizes Cummins's work in advancing employment law and civil rights.

Law School alumnus William Donohue (’74) has been appointed general counsel of the University of Minnesota, filling the position previously held by Mark Rotenberg.

Mike Hatch (’73), a former state attorney general, was recently selected to receive the Joan and Walter Mondale Award for Public Service. He accepted the award given by the Minnesota DFL Party at its second annual Humphrey-Mondale Dinner on April 20.

Lois Conroy (’97) Joins Hennepin County District Court Bench

Last fall Lois Conroy (’97) was elected and recently she was sworn in as a judge on Minnesota's Fourth Judicial District Court. The former prosecutor handled more than 1,000 cases for Minneapolis and Hennepin County in a variety of areas before joining the bench.

'The Ethics of Corporate Compliance' CLE and Alumni Reception

The Law School and Leonard Street and Deinard will host a free CLE discussion entitled "The Ethics of Corporate Compliance in the Age of Sarbanes-Oxley, Dodd-Frank, and HIPAA/HITECH." The event will be held on Wednesday, June 19, at 3:30 p.m. at Leonard Street and Deinard and will feature a panel of distinguished Law School alumni and faculty. A reception will follow the 1.5 hour CLE program.

Joint Law Schools Reception at MSBA's "Nine Days in June" Convention

As part of the Minnesota State Bar Association's "Nine Days in June" convention, a reception will be hosted by the Law School on Thursday, June 27, at 5:00 p.m. at the Earl Brown Heritage Center, 6155 Earle Brown Drive, in Brooklyn Center. Enjoy complimentary hors d'oeuvres and beverages as Law School alumni come together with friends from St. Thomas, William Mitchell, Hamline, and the University of North Dakota.
