Professor Mary Alton has been at the Law School since 2001. She is program director and clinical faculty for the Law School’s Corporate Institute. In this capacity, she administers the Corporate Externship Program and supervises student attorneys in the Business Law Clinic. As part of the Business Clinic curriculum and in a separate summer course, she teaches transactional lawyering skills. She is also the student adviser for the J.D./M.B.A. program and coach of the ABA Negotiation Competition team.

Professor Alton brings a broad base of experience to these positions. She has worked as an educator, a private practitioner, a commercial alternative dispute resolution trainer and provider, a business-plan developer and small-business organizational consultant, and an entrepreneur. She is an expert in the facilitated mediation of lending, insurance, small business, and employment matters. Students in her classes reap the benefits of her long and varied career.
