Twenty-Eighth Annual William E. McGee National Civil Rights Moot Court Competition

 February 21, 22 & 23, 2013

The University of Minnesota Law School invites all accredited law schools to participate in the Twenty-Eighth Annual William E. McGee National Civil Rights Moot Court Competition.

The application deadline is October 26, 2012. The selected topic and the rules governing the competition will be distributed to all participants by November 2, 2012.

The briefs of participating teams must be served and filed on or before January 7, 2013. The oral argument phase of the competition will be held in Minneapolis at the University of Minnesota Law School on February 21, 22, and 23, 2013. The first round of the competition is scheduled to begin Thursday afternoon, February 21, 2013. The opening banquet is that evening.

While the competition administration reserves the right to expand the field if necessary, our goal is to limit participation to the first thirty-six teams that register. A completed application and a check for the registration fee made payable to the University of Minnesota Law School, must be postmarked by October 26, 2012. While a team may still register after October 26th if an opening occurs, the order in which such openings are filled are determined by the post mark date and the time and date that such applications are received.

The registration fee is $400.00 per team ($400.00 for one team and $800.00 for two teams). If a team anticipates a delay in obtaining and submitting the fee, it should submit the application, but contact the competition administration via telephone, fax or e-mail to arrange separate submission of the fee. If the competition administration receives an application without a check and has not been notified regarding separate submission of the fee, it will not accept the application. Mailed applications should be addressed to:
