Technical Requirements for Webcast Viewing

The Law School webcasts will be streamed at 225 Kbps. Note: In order to view the Law School webcasts, your computer must have ONE of the following players installed:

  • RealPlayer 10 or later (recommended)
  • A current version of Real Alternative Classic Media Player

Projecting the Webcast:

If you plan to project this webcast from a laptop computer, it is highly recommended that you use a laptop that is connected to your network by wire (e.g. wired Ethernet connection) rather than by a wireless connection.


Installing RealPlayer:

RealPlayer is available for free from http://www.real.com/. Since it will take several minutes to install and may require a system reboot, users should plan to download and install RealPlayer well in advance of the scheduled start of the webcast.

PC users:

RealPlayer is available for free from http://www.real.com/. Choose the "Free Download" button and follow the instructions for downloading and installing the “Basic Player.”

Mac users:

RealPlayer version 10 is available for Mac OS X 10.2 (with Safari installed) or later (10.3 or later is recommended):

Installation Testing:

To test whether your RealPlayer is properly installed and ready to view the webcasts, click on the test link below. Choose a 256k sample for the best test of your computer's capabilities. If you can see the video and hear the music, RealPlayer is ready to use.

Connection Testing:

You also can run a RealPlayer connection test by opening RealPlayer, selecting Tools > Preferences, then selecting "Connection" on the left menu, and then selecting the "Test Connection" button.
