Donald P. Lay, who taught at the Law School from 1984 to 1991, died April 29 at his home in North Oaks, Minnesota, at age 80. He served on the U.S. 8th Circuit Court of Appeals for 26 years, 12 as Chief Judge.

Two U. of Minnesota Law School alumni, Ivy S. Bernhardson ('78) and Peter A. Cahill ('84), were appointed to trial court bench vacancies in the 4th Judicial District Court by Governor Tim Pawlenty on April 27, 2007.
