Study in Beijing in Summer 2007!

Application materials are now available for the Law School’s 2007 Summer Study Abroad Program in Beijing, China. An information session for interested students will be held on January 23, 2007.

Beijing LL.M. Program

The Law School is accepting applications from lawyers who earned a law degree outside the U.S. for its new Beijing LL.M. program. The program will provide students with insight into the U.S. legal system.

Cox Heads Predatory Lending Task Force

Prentiss Cox was appointed to head Minnesota Attorney General Laurie Swanson's Predatory Lending Task Force. Predatory mortgage lending abuses, which have resulted in high levels of mortgage foreclosures in Minnesota, are a major emerging issue of concern in Congress and state legislatures. The task force will propose legislation for consideration by the Minnesota Legislature during the 2007 session, and will consider implementing requirements to verify a borrower's ability to repay a loan, prohibiting or limiting prepayment penalties, and requiring brokers to follow a duty of good faith and fair dealing.
