The Siemens Foundation has announced that David Etzwiler ('90) will join the organization as CEO, effective today. In this newly created position, Etzwiler will oversee day-to-day operations while implementing a strategic vision that expands the foundation's reach and impact. The foundation's mission is to support innovation, research, and educational initiatives in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM); it provides more than $7 million annually to enhance STEM education in the United States.

The Law School's Institute on Metropolitan Opportunity (IMO) today released "Charter Schools in the Twin Cities: 2013 Update," a new study showing that Twin Cities charter schools underperform traditional public schools and continue to be highly segregated by race and income.
