Bridging The Partisan Divide
On the eve of the 2006 Legislative Session, the University
of Minnesota Law School hosted a Citizens League forum called Bridging the
Partisan Divide. This event brought students and community members together
for an intergenerational, bi-partisan conversation about the importance of
civility and working across party lines. The panel included former
Secretary of State Joan Growe (DFL), former Senate Minority Leader Duane
Benson (R), State Representative Laura Brod (R), and State Representative
Steve Simon (DFL). Citizens League Board member Nate Garvis, Vice President
of Government Affairs at Target Corporation, moderated the discussion. For
