Former Chief Justice Blatz ('84) Wins Public Service Award

JULY 15, 2009—Kathleen Ann Blatz ('84), the first woman to become chief justice of the Minnesota Supreme Court (1998-2006) and a long-time children's advocate, is one of three state officials selected for the 2009 Award for Distinguished Service to State Government from the National Governors Association (NGA). She will receive the award at the NGA’s annual meeting in Biloxi, Miss., on July 18. She was nominated by Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty ('86), a member of the NGA Executive Committee, for her important and extensive contributions to public service in Minnesota.
