Honor an American politician, educator, and author on the day of her birth. Shirley Chisholm was the first black woman elected to Congress. On January 25, 1972, she became the first major-party black candidate for President of the United States and the first woman to run for the Democratic presidential nomination. Chisholm's fight is for inclusion encompasses all Americans who agree that the institutions of this country belong to all of the people who inhabit it. Shunned by the political establishment, she asked people of color, feminists and young voters to reshape their society and take control of their destiny. Run Time: 76 mins. Catered Lunch Provided.
