Provost Sullivan Announces Dean Search Committee

E. Thomas Sullivan, Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost of the University of Minnesota, has announced the members of the Law School’s Dean Search Committee. The national search began in May 2007, and a new dean is expected to be announced in December 2007.

Information for prospective applicants is available online.

Co-chairs of the Committee are Dean of the Carlson School of Management Alison Davis-Blake and Law School Professor Kevin Reitz.

Law School faculty members serving on the Committee are professors Steve Befort, Dale Carpenter, Brad Clary, Jill Hasday, Joan Howland, Fionnuala Ni Aolain, and Ruth Okediji.

The Committee also includes Kathryn Sikkink, Regents Professor and Distinguished McKnight Professor, Political Science; Walter Mondale, Law School class of 1956 and former U.S. Vice President; Robbie Barton (1L); and staff member Linda Lokensgard.

Current deans Guy-Uriel E. Charles and Fred L. Morrison stepped in June 1, 2006, to serve a two-year interim position when Dean Alex M. Johnson Jr. announced his resignation at the close of academic year 2005–06. The uncommon appointment of co-deans has worked well, bringing complementary strengths and enhanced drive to the challenging Law School environment.
