Kathleen Sheehy (’84) Appointed District Court Judge

JUNE 1, 2012—Kathleen D. Sheehy (’84) has been appointed to the bench of Minnesota's Fourth Judicial District Court (Hennepin County), Gov. Mark Dayton’s office announced May 30, 2012. Sheehy and additional appointees Martha Holton Dimick and Edward Wahl replace retiring Judges Cara Lee Neville, Beryl A. Nord (’73), and George F. McGunnigle.

Sheehy graduated from the Law School magna cum laude in 1984 and clerked on the Minnesota Court of Appeals from 1984-86. From 1986-95 she practiced commercial, antitrust, and employment law with Dorsey & Whitney.

In 1995, she joined the Minnesota Office of Administrative Hearings as a contract administrative law judge and received an appointment to the position in 2002. She specialized in telecommunications and utility issues but conducted hearings and mediations, drafted reports, and reviewed state-agency proposals in all major areas.

Her professional activities have included membership in the National Association of Administrative Law Judges, National Association of Women Judges, American Bar Association Conference of Administrative Law Judges, Hennepin County Bar Association, and Minnesota State Bar Association's Administrative Law and Public Utilities Sections.
