Kyle Thomas (’93) Named Director of Ramsey County Attorney Office's Civil Division

JANUARY 5, 2012—Kyle M. Thomas (’93) has been appointed director of the Civil Division of the Ramsey County Attorney’s Office by Ramsey County Attorney John J. Choi. The Civil Division provides a wide array of legal services to the County Board and its departments, including general legal advice, legality review of policies and procedures, drafting of proposals and contracts, and more.

"Kyle brings a strong desire to serve the public and make a difference in our community," Choi said in a Dec. 29, 2011, announcement. "He believes that he can translate his skills and experiences for the public good and to help others succeed. I am confident that he will do this, and so much more."

Thomas previously served as corporate counsel for Home Services of America Inc., an affiliate of Berkshire Hathaway and parent company of Edina Realty, where he managed civil and other legal matters since 2006. He was a claims attorney with the Professional Errors and Omissions Unit at St. Paul Travelers Companies from 2000-06; worked at Geraghty, O’Laughlin & Kenney in St. Paul from 1995-2000; and worked at the St. Paul City Attorney’s Office from 1994-95.

He completed his undergraduate degree at Augustana College and his J.D. at the Law School. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Ramsey County Bar Association and currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Southern Minnesota Regional Legal Services Campaign for Legal Aid, Urban Leadership Committee.
