Law School Moot Court Team Advances to Nationals

NOVEMBER 23, 2010—Both of the Law School's National Moot Court teams advanced to the Region 14 Moot Court Competition semifinals held this past weekend at Drake University Law School. The Petitioner team was composed of third-year students Nora Crumpton, James Fuller, and Cicely Miltich, while the Respondent team was made up of third-year students Cortney Jones, Emily Van Brunt, and Katrina Wessbecker. The teams were coached by Clinical Professor Brad Clary and Adjunct Professor Kristin Sankovitz.

The Respondent team also qualified for the national final rounds, being held in New York City, Jan. 31 – Feb. 3, 2011. The Law School's Moot Court teams have advanced to the national finals 8 times in the last 9 years and 17 times in the last 29 years.

The National Moot Court Competition is sponsored by the American College of Trial Lawyers and the Young Lawyers Committee of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, and focuses on developing the art of appellate advocacy.
