Leo Disburg (’90) Appointed Magistrate Judge in South Dakota

NOVEMBER 2, 2011—Leo Disburg (’90) was recently appointed a magistrate judge in South Dakota’s Sixth Judicial Circuit, which covers 14 counties in the central and south central areas of the state, beginning November 9. He will replace retiring Magistrate Judge Mark Smith. John L. Brown, presiding Sixth Circuit judge, said in a news release announcing Disburg’s appointment that "his experience and temperament will serve the Circuit well."

After law school graduation, Disburg worked in private practice in Brookings, S.D., and continued his practice after moving to Pierre, S.D., in 1995. He has been the chief hearing examiner in the South Dakota Bureau of Administration's Office of Hearing Examiners since 1998 and currently is the 2011-12 chair of the Administrative Law Committee of the State Bar of South Dakota.
