Description:

This seminar focuses on cases pending or recently decided by the Supreme Court of the United States. Topics that we may study include nominations and appointments to the Court, the perspectives and philosophies of the sitting Justices, the internal deliberative processes of the Court, and the role of attorneys before the Court. Students will be required to assume the role of advocate and/or Justice as we discuss the current term cases. Students will also be required to complete multiple written assignments, one of which will consist of either a term paper on a topic relating to the Supreme Court or a draft opinion in a case currently pending before the Supreme Court.
