Description:International and regional organizations and transnational governance networks appear to govern public and private interactions more extensively and intensively than ever before. This seminar will address how, and to what extent, they do so in different regulatory and legal areas, from international finance to human rights, and international trade to environmental protection. We will examine the design and operation of various international governance regimes. We will, in particular, address the impact of these regimes on law and policy within the United States and other countries around the world. Some leading internationally-renowned scholars will present their work in the seminar which we will discuss and critique. This seminar is a great opportunity for those interested in working on a project in this area, those interested in work on law reviews, and those generally interested in deepening their understanding of how international law works. There are no prerequisites for this class. |
