Consumer Protection and Transactions

Course Description:

This course examines federal and state law intended to protect and regulate consumer transactions. The course will focus on three types of consumer laws: (1) unfair and deceptive practices statutes; (2) federal consumer credit statutes and implementing regulations; and (3) topical consumer protection laws, such as automobile lemon laws. The class will be especially useful for students interested in consumer banking law, public interest or poverty law, legislative drafting or class action litigation.
