Students in class

Undergraduate Students

Undergraduate students at the University of Minnesota have the opportunity to take courses at the Law School in order to gain exposure to the study of law and see its impact on virtually every major field of study. Students generally begin by taking one of our dedicated undergraduate law courses, taught by award-winning faculty. They then may take additional courses of interest alongside J.D. students or choose to pursue the Business Law minor, offered in partnership with the Carlson School of Management.

Undergraduates regularly rate the courses at the Law School as among the most enriching they have taken, providing them with an introduction to the law school experience and the types of tools that lawyers use to analyze issues and advocate persuasively. Some go on to pursue their J.D. degree at Minnesota Law after graduation. But even if you have no aspirations of attending law school, these courses will enhance your understanding of law and its relevance in the public and private spheres.

Non-Degree Seeking Students

If you are not a current student at the University of Minnesota, you must follow the Non-Law Student Enrollment Policy.

Individuals who would like to enroll in 6000-level courses must complete the Non-Law Student Petition for Law Courses form and email it to lawreg@umn.edu.
