George Floyd’s Minneapolis: Past, Present, and Moving Forward – 6869

This course will examine the May 25, 2020 killing of Minneapolis resident George Floyd and the unrest, uprising, and momentum for racial justice it has sparked. Students will hear from experts on topics, such as racial inequity in the criminal legal system, policing reform, economic inequality, and the school-to-prison-pipeline as they explore the historical, socio-political, and legal contexts and implications of George Floyd’s killing.
