The State of International Law and Climate Change: Trade and Human Rights

The Minnesota Journal of International Law (MJIL) and the Human Rights Center are hosting a symposium on the state of international law and climate change, with a focus on trade and human rights. The Symposium will take place on Friday, April 12, 2024 at the University of Minnesota Law School in Mondale Hall Room 25, starting at 9:00am. We will have distinguished speakers attending from around the country who work in the field of international environmental law. They will share their research and insight into this important issue.

Will The NAR Settlement End 6% Real Estate Commissions?

The settlement between the National Association of Realtors (NAR) and class action plaintiffs has led to predictions of a fundamentally changed real estate industry and the elimination of abnormally high commission rates in the U.S. compared to other countries. Will that happen? This half-day forum will explore the underlying market dynamics that led to the class action antitrust suits, how the real estate industry likely will respond to the NAR settlement, and what regulators need to do to ensure the promise of the NAR settlement is realized.

Regalia Pick-up for Class of 2024 

April 24, 2024, 10:00 am to 2:00 pm

Regalia orders for the Class of 2024 will be available for pick-up in Auerbach Commons from 10 am to 2 pm on Wednesday, April 24. If you cannot retrieve your items on April 24, they will be available afterwards through the Career Center.

Student Affairs will also be distributing graduates' name cards (the card handed to faculty presenters when you cross the stage) upon check-in. These are historically picked up at Northrop, on commencement day, but we are asking students to pick them up in advance and bring them with on Saturday, May 11. 

2024 Dean's Graduation Reception 

May 10, 2024, 3:00 to 5:00 pm

On Friday, May 10, Interim Dean William McGeveran invites the University of Minnesota Law School Class of 2024 and their guests to a graduation reception on the Plaza level of Mondale Hall from 3 to 5 pm (CT). 

Graduates will receive an email invitation in April to RSVP and register for their guests. Minnesota Law faculty and staff will also be invited. RSVP information is forthcoming.

Commencement 2024 

May 11, 2024, 10:00 am to 12:00 pm

The University of Minnesota Law School invites the Class of 2024 and their guests to our 136th Commencement Exercises on Saturday, May 11, 2024. 

The ceremony begins promptly at 10 am (central time) and lasts approximately 2 hours. 

Students should plan to arrive at Northrop by 8:30 am. Tickets are not necessary and there is no guest limit for graduates. The doors will open to the public at 9 am. Additional communications about commencement will be sent to the Class of 2024 throughout the spring semester.
