This is a new initiative of the Human Rights Center for students interested in human rights and international law. Each month one faculty member will join interested students for an informal breakfast in the Human Rights Center to discuss career experiences and talk about their research and policy work. The aim is to further connect our exceptional human rights and international law faculty with law students interested in these fields.

Professor Meili writes and teaches about the rights of noncitizens, particularly those seeking asylum.  He has published extensively on the effectiveness of human rights treaties in the asylum context, as well as cause lawyering in comparative perspective. Most recently he has been researching the human rights implications of Ecuadoran policy toward Colombian refugees seeking asylum in that country. He teaches immigration law and international human rights law and is also the director of the Law School’s Immigration and Human Rights Clinic, part of the Center for New Americans.

Seats are limited, please RSVP to Vicky at nguye386@umn.edu.
