Human Rights in Practice: Betsy Apple
This series enables students to engage with international law and human rights practitioners in an informal setting and to explore diverse career paths in the field.
The Open Society Justice Initiative (OSJI) uses law to protect and empower people around the world. Through litigation in domestic and international courts, advocacy, research, and technical assistance, it strives to secure legal remedies for human rights abuses and promote effective enforcement of the rule of law.
Betsy Apple is Advocacy Director for OSJI and previously served as the director of the Crimes Against Humanity program at Human Rights First, deputy director of the Women’s Environment and Development Organization (WEDO), and the managing/legal director of EarthRights International in Thailand and the United States.
