The Human Rights in Practice series gives students the opportunity to engage with international law and human rights practitioners in an informal setting and to learn about diverse career paths in the field.

University of Minnesota Law School Graduate Feras Sleiman ('12) is policy adviser to Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) and works in the foreign policy, homeland security, financial services, and trade portfolios. Prior to that he served as a law clerk to the U.S. Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations (PSI), where he assisted on an investigation into the multi-billion-dollar "London Whale" losses arising from high-risk trading in credit derivatives.

For his summers between law school years, Feras worked in the human rights practice group of a D.C. law firm, assisting with Alien Tort Statute cases involving human trafficking, torture, and forced labor, and as a summer associate at a Paris-based international business law firm. Feras is from Washington, D.C. and is a graduate of the University of Michigan.

Join us for a discussion with Feras about his law school experience and career path. Please note this event is completely off the record.
