In celebration of Women's History Month: Learn about gender-focused international human rights and humanitarian law with UMN Law Alumnus and Human Rights Center Research Fellow, Megan Manion ā€™16. Megan will discuss her 7+ years of experience in gender, justice, and security issues, including her work with UN Women in places like Chad and Afghanistan.Ā 

Megan joined the Human Rights Center as Research Fellow and Legal Advisor in November 2020. In this capacity, she leads the support provided by the Center to Professor Fionnuala Ni Aolain in her role as UN Special Rapporteur. Prior to this role, Megan served in several roles at UN Women, as a Policy Analyst in New York, where her work focused on transitional justice and preventing and countering violent extremism and countering terrorism, and as a Justice and Security Specialist based in Kabul, Afghanistan.

Megan holds a J.D. from the University of Minnesota Law School, with concentrations in international law and international human rights law, and earned a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison as a Fulbright-HaysĀ Scholar.
