Law School Mourns the Passing of Longtime Benefactor Mary Louise Lockhart

Mary Louise Lockhart, who with her husband Greer Lockhart ’53 generously supported the Law School for many years, passed away at the age of 90 on Feb. 14, 2020.

Lockhart, known as “Saint” Mary Lou to her friends, led a life of service to others. In addition to teaching elementary school, she volunteered at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Minneapolis, the Minnesota Indian Women’s Resource Center, and Loaves and Fishes. When she was in her 50s, she earned her chaplaincy degree and subsequently volunteered as a lay chaplain at Hennepin County Medical Center for many years. She loved to relax by playing bridge and golf, and was very good at both. Indeed, as a golfer she made two holes in one in her lifetime.

Mary Lou and Greer Lockhart were consistent long-term donors to Minnesota Law, making annual contributions 45 times, including more than 25 years consecutively.
