Joseph H. Thompson is an Assistant United States Attorney in Minneapolis. He is a member of the Fraud and Public Corruption Section, responsible for investigating and prosecuting complex financial fraud and public corruption cases. Thompson previously served for five years as an Assistant United States Attorney in Chicago. While there he investigated and prosecuted a wide variety of federal crimes including health care fraud and large-scale drug- and gun-trafficking offenses.

Thompson received his J.D. with distinction from Stanford Law School, and his B.A., magna cum laude, from Gustavus Adolphus College. After law school, he clerked for the Honorable Rebecca R. Pallmeyer of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and for the Supreme Court of the Republic of Palau.
