Charles Meyer

Charles H. Meyer regularly teaches accounting for lawyers as part of a course on business essentials for lawyers.

Meyer received his B.S.B.-Accounting degree, with high distinction, from the University of Minnesota and his J.D. degree, magna cum laude, from Harvard Law School. He became an associate at Oppenheimer Wolff & Donnelly in 1977, and a partner in 1983. In 1985, he joined Cargill as a Senior Tax Counsel. He returned to Oppenheimer in 1988. In 1990, Meyer joined Northwest Airlines as a Senior Tax Counsel heading up the tax research and planning function at Northwest. In 1994, he joined the Aviation Services business of General Electric Company as Senior Tax Counsel where he remained until he retired at the end of 2014. In his practice, Meyer has worked extensively in the areas of corporate structuring and commercial transaction structuring with an emphasis aircraft leasing transactions.

He is the author of the West Nutshell entitled Accounting and Finance for Lawyers which is now in its 6th edition.
