Patricia Beety is General Counsel for the League of Minnesota Cities and the League of Minnesota Cities Insurance Trust. In this role, Pat directs all legal matters for both organizations and works closely with League members, staff, and governing boards. She also oversees an internal team of over 30 attorneys, law clerks and paralegals. Prior to assuming the General Counsel role in 2017, Pat was a senior employment attorney and supervisor of LMCIT’s in-house litigation group. For over 30 years, she has represented Minnesota cities and city officials in state and federal court, administrative agencies, and before the state legislature. Pat has a long history of pro bono service and involvement in the legal community which includes serving as a current member of the Minnesota Board of Law Examiners, past chair of the Minnesota Board of Legal Certification, past chair of Minnesota State Bar Association’s Public Law Section, president of MDLA, DRI state rep, IMLA Litigation and Insurance Section co-chair, IMLA State League executive committee, and numerous other leadership roles in civil litigation and government risk pool related organizations.
