Adjunct Professor Matha currently serves as Solicitor General of the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe. As chief legal counsel since 2011, he advises both executive and legislative branches of tribal government; litigates in federal, state, and tribal courts; supervises eleven attorneys; and oversees a Police Department of twenty officers. He simultaneously occupies the elected position of Chief Justice on the Ho-Chunk Nation Supreme Court. Adjunct Professor Matha ascended to this role following five (5) consecutive terms within the Ho-Chunk Judiciary beginning in 1999. Additionally, Adjunct Professor Matha has adjudicated multiple cases in a pro tempore capacity for tribes throughout Wisconsin and Michigan. Adjunct Professor Matha is an enrolled member of the Ho-Chunk Nation.
