Prof. Kristin Hickman Appointed Senior Fellow by the Administrative Conference of the United States

Professor Kristin Hickman was appointed as a Senior Fellow by the Administrative Conference of the United States (ACUS), to serve a two-year term. The Administrative Conference of the United States is an independent, non-partisan federal agency within the executive branch dedicated to improving administrative law and federal regulatory processes. It conducts applied research, and provides expert recommendations and other advice, to improve federal agency procedures. Its membership is composed of senior federal officials, academics, and other experts from the private sector.

Alumni News: Four Minnesota Law Alumni Judges Sworn In at the State of Minnesota's Office of Administrative Hearings

On June 9, the Minnesota's Office of Administrative Hearings (OAH) held a judicial investiture ceremony to formally swear in the 11 newest judges who have joined OAH since 2019. Four of those judges are University of Minnesota Law School alumni. Around 400 guests attended the ceremony, which was open to the public. Prof. Fionnuala Ní Aoláin Holds Press Conference in Geneva To Report on Her Recent Visit to Syria

In her role as U.N. Special Rapporteur on the protection of rights while countering terrorism, Prof. Fionnuala Ní Aoláin held a press conference on Friday in Geneva, Switzerland, to report on her end-of-mandate visit to Syria where she called attention to the lingering “mass arbitrary detention” in Syria's infamous al-Hol camp and others like it that she saw during her trip to the region last week—a visit that was billed as the first visit of its kind by an independent human rights expert.

Dean Jenkins Joins Big Ten Law Deans in Joint Statement in Affirmation of Support of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Law School and Higher Education

Dean Garry Jenkins joined fourteen other Big Ten law deans in a joint statement published on the Northwestern Pritzker School of Law website to affirm Big 10 law schools' shared values and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion regardless of the outcome of the upcoming U.S. Supreme Court decisions in Students for Fair Admissions, Inc. v. University of North Carolina and Students for Fair Admissions, Inc. v. President & Fellows of Harvard College.

Professor Linus Chan Appointed the James H. Binger Clinical Professor of Law

Professor Linus Chan has been appointed the James H. Binger Clinical Professor of Law.  The Board of Regents also recently approved his promotion to the rank of clinical professor of law.  His clinical work focuses on removal defense for those detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). He is widely recognized for his work on behalf of his clients and for his work with students. From 2021 to 2023, he was the Law School's Vaughan G.
