Professor Amy Kristin Sanders is an award-winning journalist and licensed attorney. Her research focuses on the intersection of law and digital media. Dr. Sanders is currently undertaking a historical examination of the Federal Communications Commission's regulation of broadcast indecency. In addition, she researches online defamation and media ownership issues. Dr. Sanders regularly speaks about cyberspace law to journalism and civic groups, and her research has appeared in the Federal Communication Law Journal, the Duke Journal of Constitutional Law and Public Policy, Communication Law and Policy and the Journal of Media Law and Ethics. Prior to joining the faculty at the University of Minnesota, Dr. Sanders worked as a copy editor and page designer for the Gainesville (Fla.) Sun, a New York Times Co. newspaper. Amy has a BA in journalism and a BS in justice systems from Truman State University. She earned her Ph.D. in Mass Communication Law from the University of Florida and completed an M.A./J.D. at the University of Iowa.
