Description:

The seminar will cover the issues involved in planning and drafting estate plans for clients. Starting with the initial client meeting, the Seminar addresses ethical considerations in undertaking the representation, the engagement letter, handling the meeting, and identification of client concerns and assets. Sessions of the Seminar will cover will drafting and will substitutes, what is probate and advantages of avoiding probate, use of trusts, the marital deduction and other tax planning, provisions for children and grandchildren including generation-skipping provisions, life insurance planning, retirement asset planning, charitable gift planning, lifetime gift planning, and post mortem planning. Students will work in teams of two to plan an estate plan for hypothetical clients with varying estate assets and issues.
