The University of Minnesota Law School Archives is located in the Riesenfeld Rare Books Research Center.

Old Main

The Archives houses publications of Law School faculty, selected collections of papers of faculty and noted alumni, a collection of law student notebooks, Law School photographs prior to 2009, recordings of Law School lectures and events, and publications of the Law School and its centers and institutes. In addition, the Archives hosts a collection of American Law Institute (ALI) Restatements of the Law. Please see the User Guide available in the Riesenfeld Research Center for more information.

The University of Minnesota Archives, located in Elmer L. Andersen Library, also holds significant collections related to the history of the Law School. In particular, the University of Minnesota Archives holds collections of Law School papers from 1889 to 1980, including the papers of Dean Everett Fraser, Dean William B. Lockhart, Dean Carl A. Auerbach, and Dean Robert A. Stein. Please see the University of Minnesota Archives website for detailed information on these and other collections related to the Law School. Researchers interested in student photographs may wish to consult the Gopher, the yearbook of the University of Minnesota, published from 1886 to 1965. The Gopher is held at Wilson Library and the University of Minnesota Archives, and is available through the UMN UMedia Archive
