Professor Vicente E. Garces specializes in the area of legal research and teaches in the library’s legal research instruction program. His areas of specialized legal research interest include legal history, criminal law, criminal justice, and American Indian law. Professor Garces is responsible for selecting materials for the library’s collection; managing the library’s web site, and providing legal research assistance to the law school’s faculty, students, and other patrons of the library.
Professor Garces received his B.A. degree from the University of California, Los Angeles, and a master’s degree in library and information science from the University of California, Berkeley. He earned his J.D. degree at the University of San Francisco School of Law. Professor Garces served as Senior Reference Librarian at the University of Oregon Law Library prior to joining the University of Minnesota Law School library faculty in 1996. Professor Garces is a member of the American Association of Law Libraries (AALL) and has served on several AALL committees. He is a current member and past president of the Minnesota Association of Law Libraries.
