Crash the Course Series, “Rights in Conflict” with Prof. Christopher N.J. Roberts and Guest Prof. Michele Statz
The Human Rights Center invites you inside the University of Minnesota Law School for a rare chance to sit in on a class with Professor Roberts and a special guest presenter invited to speak to the class.
Rights in Conflict: Citizenship and Human Rights is an upper-level seminar at the Law School examining the relationships between Civil Rights Law in the United States and International Human Rights Law in the global context. Attendees will have an opportunity to interact within the classroom together with the JD students, Professor Roberts, and the guest speaker.
For the first session, guest speaker, Professor Michele Statz, will present her ground-breaking research on access to justice in the Northland and why rural "justice gaps" matter to all Minnesotans across the state.
The class will be structured as follows:
- Part I - Guest Lecturer, Prof. Michele Statz
- Part II - Q & A Dialogue led by Professor Roberts
- Part III – Student and attendee discussion

The “Crash the Course” series is hosted by the Human Rights Center and aimed at sharing our exciting curriculum explores pressing human rights topics more broadly and to foster new connections between our students, faculty, alumni, and partners. The second session will take place on March 25. The public is invited to attend one or both sessions.
