Professor Fionnuala D. Ní Aoláin

The Human Rights Center at the University of Minnesota Law School has been a prominent advocate for the protection of human rights globally, throughout its history. This work continues through Professor Fionnuala Ní Aoláin’s appointment by the Human Rights Councils as the UN Special Rapporteur on the promotion and protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms while countering terrorism.

For the 2021 Virtual Spring Alumni Week, Professor Ní Aoláin presented to UMN Law Alumni, discussing this work, and how it also contributes to the growth and opportunities for students at the University of Minnesota Law School.

Ben Rogers, a 3L and Research Assistant in support of the mandate, joined Professor Ní Aoláin to discuss how this work has influenced his career path and helped shape his goals for advancing human rights protections. This event was moderated by Amanda Lyons, Executive Director of the Human Rights Center.
