Representing clients with diminished capacity can be difficult. How can you protect your clients while still ensuring you’re meeting their needs and wishes? How can you be a fierce advocate for them before USCIS and EOIR?  Come learn how to best represent your clients with capacity issues. We’ll discuss common competency issues and protections before both USCIS and EOIR. You’ll also learn practical tips for ensuring client engagement and working with social workers, medical providers, and family members. Presenters are Mackenzie Heinrichs, Visiting Assistant Professor at the Binger Center for New Americans and Meg Hennessy, Assistant Supervising Attorney at Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid. There will also be a community health worker available to offer their perspectives.

There will be light refreshments available for those who attend in person.
