A 2010 report by the Institute on Race and Poverty was referenced in a Detroit Free Press article on the Detroit school system. As the state of Michigan moves to replace failing public schools with charter schools in Detroit, Professor Myron Orfield's research on New Orleans' similar effort suggests that there may be very significant problems with Detroit's proposal.
