CaringBridge CEO Liwanag Ojala ’98 Will Deliver 2021 Commencement Address  

CaringBridge Chief Executive Officer Liwanag Ojala ’98 will be the Law School’s 2021 commencement speaker.

CaringBridge is a nonprofit organization that has more than 43 million unique users across all 50 states and 236 countries and territories around the world. Ojala joined CaringBridge in 2014, first as chief operating officer, and then becoming CEO in 2016, with a goal to reinvigorate all aspects of the pioneering organization, leveraging her previous legal and ecommerce experience. 

Prior to joining CaringBridge, Ojala was vice president of ecommerce at Meijer, and several other executive roles including, president of a division of Taylor Corporation, president of SimonDelivers, and general manager of CobornsDelivers. She has received a number of awards recognizing her leadership skills, including Top 500 Executives award by Minnesota Monthly in 2020 and Minneapolis-St. Paul Business Journal’s Most Admired CEO Award in 2019. She serves on the board of American Public Media Group/MPR.

Ojala received her B.A. in History at Northwestern University. At the Law School, she participated in Civil Rights Moot Court and the Asylum Law Project. She was selected as the student speaker for her own commencement in 1998.
