Minnesota Law Competes in National Moot Court Regional Competition

Two teams of Law School students participated in the regional competition of the National Moot Court Competition from November 12-14, 2021.

All of the 3L team members were selected for the competition team based on their strong performances in National Moot Court as 2L students. The competition team members also serve as student directors for the National Moot Court course.

The team representing Petitioner was composed of students 3Ls Emily Doyle, Zoe Psiakis, and Elena Modl (not shown). The team representing Respondent was composed of 3Ls Annika Cushnyr, Mara Sybesma, and Sophia Nocera.

The team was coached by three recent alums, each of whom participated on the competition team as students, Kelsey Fuller ‘17, Andrew Leiendecker ‘17, and Kelly Nizzari ’19.

Asked about this year’s team, Leiendecker said “[o]ur students displayed a tireless work ethic throughout the competition experience—from drafting the briefs through nearly a dozen oral-argument practices. Across the board, the students earned exemplary individual oral argument scores at the regional competition, and we are proud to have worked with them this year.”
