Incoming 1L Noah Miller ’26 is from Pine City, Minnesota. He is a graduate of Bethel University in St. Paul. Prior to coming to law school, he held positions in court administration and at the Minnesota Appellate Defender’s Office.

Welcome to Minnesota Law! Can you tell us why you chose the University of Minnesota Law School?

I chose Minnesota Law because this is a premier law school in the country, and I will have the opportunity to maintain my connections by staying in Minnesota. I am confident that this law school will provide me with all the opportunities that I need to succeed.

How will scholarship support help you achieve your educational goals?

There is no way that I would have been able to attend this law school without the support of scholarships. With this financial support, I will also be able to focus solely on my academic work without the need to work during my 1L year.

What are you looking forward to the most about starting law school?

I am looking forward to learning and growing as a person; moreover, I am looking to build the skills that will make me a successful attorney.

Minnesota Law strives to embody a culture of equity, inclusiveness, and belonging in the classroom and in our community. What are some of the most important aspects of creating a culture where all students feel like they belong?

To create a culture where all students feel like they belong, I believe that the law school must encourage collaboration and understanding differences.

Are you interested in practicing in a certain area of the law?

I am interested in pursuing criminal law because I want to have a positive impact on my community. Furthermore, I want to do my part to ensure that our justice system is fair and equitable.

Do you have a hobby or special interests?

During my free time, I enjoy running, reading, hiking, and most other outdoor activities.  In June, I ran Grandma’s Marathon in Duluth, and in August I competed in a half marathon in Mora.

Who inspires you and why?

I’m inspired by all the public defenders in this country trying to ensure that everyone receives their due process rights. This is very difficult work; however, they have great impacts on all their clients.

What’s the most recent book or podcast you’ve read or listened to?

I recently read Canoeing with the Cree by Eric Sevareid. This book describes the trials and tribulations associated with a 2,000+ mile canoeing journey from the Twin Cities to Hudson Bay.

What or who makes a good lawyer?

I believe that a successful lawyer is confident and good at making arguments in oral and written forms. To be a good lawyer, in my opinion, a lawyer must seek to advance the general welfare of their community.
