Law in Practice Named a Top Law School Innovation Program by Bloomberg Law

Minnesota Law's Law in Practice Program, directed by Prof. Randall Ryder '09, and coordinated by Experiential Education Administrator Diana Witt, has been named as a top 12 finalist in Bloomberg Law's Law School Innovation Program. Last year, Law in Practice was named an innovation leader in practical skills training by Bloomberg Law.  Now in its second year, the Law School Innovation program recognizes law schools and their faculty and staff that have implemented and led innovative programs into their curricula that advance new methodologies and approaches to student instruction, legal technology implementation and usage, experiential learning, and other facets of legal education. A required 1L spring semester course, LiP has been part of the Minnesota Law curriculum since 2013. The program works to convert doctrinal law concepts into an experiential learning format early in a student’s legal education. During the semester, each student works on two case simulations from start to finish, one litigation and one transactional.
