Professor Richard Painter was quoted in WalletHub about the equity of tax spending across the United States. WalletHub identified the best states where people in different income brackets spend the most and least on sales and excise taxes, property taxes, and income taxes. Professor Painter commented, “Our tax system has way too many loopholes and encourages wealthy individuals and corporate taxpayers and their lawyers to find ways around the law. This undermines the ethics of the business community and the legal profession by encouraging a nihilistic approach to the law.”
