Minnesota Law's Black Law Students Association earlier today released the following open letter addressing the killing of Amir Locke during a police raid in Minneapolis.

Minnesota Law students fared well in the National Online Moot Court Competition, which was held online the week of Jan. 16, 2022.

The Law School’s team of three standout students completed eight arguments over three days to advance to the quarterfinal round. The team overcame a number of unanticipated logistical challenges, including having to submit their competition brief during fall final exams.

Maysa Alqaisi, a 2L at Minnesota Law, dreamed of becoming a lawyer and advocate from an early age. A first-generation law student and U.S. immigrant, she earned a degree in finance at the University of Texas-Austin. She got her first taste of Minnesota when she interned at Target corporate headquarters as an undergraduate and subsequently applied to Minnesota Law to pursue her goal of becoming a lawyer.

Joseph T. O’Neill '56, a St. Paul attorney, legislator, and community leader and advocate, died on Jan. 24 at the age of 91.

O’Neill served as legal counsel in U.S. Air Force from 1956–59 in the Azores and served in the reserves after that until 1972. He practiced law in St. Paul for more than 50 years, including at O'Neill, Grills & O'Neill with his son and law partner, Michael. He served as an adjunct professor at Minnesota Law from 2004-13.

Minnesota Law is among the 99 law schools nationally that have responded to Attorney General Merrick Garland's call to action for stronger access to justice and court reform on eviction prevention.
